If you want free e-mail, try Hotmail, Yahoo or GMail.
The first thing you're going to ask is why you should pay for an e-mail account. Very simply, this is a veterans only site. It is for veterans and run by a veteran. There is a one-time $5 charge because all account requests are done by me and not by the computer. Unemployed and service connected disability are free.
My name is John Slaughter. I served in the Navy from 1968-'72. I served aboard the USS Ranger for two WestPac cruises to Vietnam. I then went to data processing school in San Diego and then did a tour at the Fleet Intelligence Center, US Naval Forces, Europe, at NAS Jacksonville, FL.
I am not a professional webmaster and this is not meant to be a slick professional site.
I am starting this service for all of my brothers and sisters who have also answered the call to serve our country - willingly or otherwise.
Your e-mail accounts will be Name@Service-Vet.us. You have lots of options on how you want your name to appear. Here are some examples:
- John.Slaughter@Navy-Vet.us
- DP3.John.Slaughter@Navy-Vet.us
- JR.Slaughter@Navy-Vet.us
- Ryan.Hassan@Army-Vet.us
- Sgt.Ryan.Hassan@Army-Vet.us
I think you get the idea.
Did you serve in two or more branches and would like separate addresses? Go for it. I only ask that you don't get a US-Vet address as well as one that specifies your service. The US-Vet addresses should be used by those who only wish to show they served our country. They will also be used for those serving in the National Guards. You have the following choices for domains:
- US-Vet.us
- AirForce-Vet.us
- Army-Vet.us
- CoastGuard-Vet.us
- Marine-Vet.us
- Navy-Vet.us
How does this all work? For the time being, the cost is one-time $5.00 except for those who are unemployed or have a service connedted disability. You can pay by PayPal or Check/Money Order. To use PayPal click on the button of your service. When you complete the payment, you'll be returned to the signup form. If you prefer to send a check or money order, click on the Check/MO button beside the appropriate PayPal button and fill in that form. When done, a thank you page will come up with instructions on where to send your payment. There is also a button for those who'd simply like to support my efforts and not get an address of their own.
I'll set up your e-mail account within 24 hours. Why is this not an automated service? So that I can make sure that you are live humans and not some web-bot looking for e-mail accounts from which to send spam. I apologize if the amount of information requested seems a bit much. It too, is to protect you and me and to try to make sure that only veterans get these addresses.
I know this all sounds kinda flaky, but I assure you I'm on the level and am only looking to provide a service for you. I sincerely hope that I will be able to make this a free service in the near future. Please read my Privacy Policy.
Sincerely,
John Slaughter, USN, 1968-'72.
P.S. An extension to these accounts would be for the spouses/significant others of the vets. For instance, my wife might want Deb.Slaughter@Navy-VetsWife.us or Deb.Slaughter@Navy-VetsBetterHalf.us. If there is an interest, I'll get those domains, too.
Questions? Write me or call me at (208) 623-2433 any time between 8:00am and 8:00pm Pacific time.
